You shall not look through my eyes either, nor take things from me,
You shall listen to all sides and filter them from your self.
Walt Whitman has always been a favorite of mine. And his "Song of Myself" (... which I sometimes erroneously call "Song for Myself" - which is not entirely wrong) is perhaps one that I will always go back to whenever I feel bad.
The line above is perhaps one of the more popular ones.
And it is a line that I'd like to share with some of business associates - no, shove down their throats with a yawp.
"I can only create opportunities for you - to grow, to get things done, to widen your horizon. I can only create simple things for you - platforms where you can jump off from, silences where you can be heard. I can only create stories that you can share, inspirations for you to take on, build on and live on. I can only point you to directions that you can take. ...
"I cannot - for the life of me - be you for you.
"I cannot take the leap for you. You have to take it yourself. And if you don't want to - because you don't understand its importance or you don't care or you don't know any more and refuse to know more anymore - I cannot take it for you.
"I can only stand.
"And watch the things that I have done for you pass by... and become irrelevant.
