"The world needs to wake up and realize that the HIV/AIDS pandemic has changed its face since the 1980s. It has been affecting women and children at an enormous rate," Lennox told CNN's Christiane Amanpour in an interview aired Friday.
"As a woman and a mother myself, I want to contribute to keeping this issue on the table. HIV is invisible," she added.
HIV and AIDS are leading killers of women of reproductive age in world, Annie Lennox says, in the interview. Lennox this month went to U.N. in New York to help launch five-year action plan.

I wonder how we can harness the power of the Web, social networking, and other protocols and technologies in finding a solution for something that is plaguing the human race.
I have always believed that HIV is one of our biggest threats - and that everyone, regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, income, and education level is at risk.
I also believe that governments know of this - and pharmaceutical companies know of this.
But why then does it seem that we're not finding any significant solution?
Why are we not devoting resources to mitigating, controlling, and managing this risk that has the capability of shifting our lives so dramatically in the next decade or so?
